Man Like Me

So are you ready for summer? Man Like Me are, despite the rain. I got sent this through today and has made me feel quite ready for the festival season...

They're playing a bunch of the festivals including my old-home turf on the Isle of Wight, so try and check them out. This is their summer single out in June.

Vote tomorrow then... I forgot to register like a first class idiot. Surely no one is actually going to vote for this man?

Mr Ian Stevenson

This is by Mr Ian Stevenson who does the animations on www.oatmeal.tv - he's a bit good.

Found this track on Fuck You On Friday - once again the Ting Tings sound a million times better once remixed.

Tuesday 29 April 2008

you're Wom, he's Bat.

Here's a pretty serious South Central remix of that Wombats single...

Video of the year?

not working

I'm not working any more, my body and brain have slowed down. This weekend was pretty intense. Yesterday was excellent, minus the huge fights on the way out and pathetic police officers too scarred to do anything. I pulled some serious shapes anyway, DJ Hype was intense. I missed Wiley but here's an mp3...

You actually HAVE to see this video.

LMHR

The line up for tomorrows Love Music Hate Racism Carnival at Victoria Park is wicked. The View,  Roll Deep, Wiley, DJ Hype, The Paddingtons, Don Letts... even bloody DJ Luck and MC Neat!

It's free and is on from 12 till 6. I will be there probably looking a little worse for wear after tonight.

Ultravox

So in case you didn't know, the title of this blog is a play on words of Ultravox's Dancing with Tears in my Eyes. Which is a tune. Hype it. They were fully amazing when they were called Ultravox! before Midge Ure joined as well. Its a strong look.

So here is one final reminder that the band I manage The Suggestions are playing at West Rocks tonight. It's at Shepherds Bar in Shepherds Bush, doors open at 6 and The Suggestions are on at 9.30. They were recently demo of the week on Steve Lamacq's radio 1 show, and you can also see them at one of the Fringe Events for this years BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend in Maidstone. There will be various industry types coming down to see them so it'd be great to have everyones support. I'll see you ALL tonight - yes?!

Some Lunatic

The best bit as at about 38 seconds. This guy was on Denmark Street today, near Oatmeal TV HQ, outside one of the posh guitar places. There was so many people just walking past like everything was chill. What you can't tell from this video is that he was sweating SO much, it was pretty grim. Was on flyer-ops again today haha, so pick up your Oatmeal TV postcards all round Brick Lane and Hoxton yeah? haha.

Big Issue

So this dog was selling Big Issues on Carnaby Street yesterday, I was going to get one but it refused to show me a laminate. You just can't trust these unverified sellers. Oh I don't know.

Cage le Sac

So this is the latest Cage the Elephant video, for "In one Ear", we did an Oatmeal TV interview with them at the Camden Crawl and I was lucky enough to see them doing a little acoustic thing for e4, which was excellent. Anyway, they are playing at Another Music = Another Kitchen at Proud Galleries tonight, so if you can make it down then you should.

I'm also really into that new Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip single, as heart wrenching as it is. Here's a sweet remix I found

Ey Ey Ey Ey Ey

So have you seen that new MSN style messaging thing on Facebook? Me and Toddla T just discovered it fully, and he reminded me about this little second single launch party ALSO on Saturday night... so there is ANOTHER choice for you, and if his set at Camden Crawl was anything to go buy, this could be the best of the bunch.

Click Here for a selection of fine Toddla T tracks that are all ready up in blog land. Recommend the Nastee Boi remix that you can get on Curb Crawlers. Big up.

Section yourself

So MSTRKRFT is so much not a secret that there is posters up for it haha, the bird in Fenchurch said that they sold out of tickets basically instantly and was going for the whole "good luck" vibe with getting in. Startstrippers at The Rhythm Factory may well be a better bet. Link below.

I was out flyering for Oatmeal.tv - so head to pretty much any shop in the Neal Street/Seven Dials area to pick up a pretty flashy Oatmeal postcard.

So me and Saul are agreed that the new Portishead stuff is fucking intense, i'd compare it to a nervous breakdown on record. So it is a bloody delight that there is all ready people remixing it up and taking it that one step further, to the point where it basically makes you want to section yourself.

thanks to Slutty Fringe for getting that online, and thus providing the soundtrack to my nightmares.

Last of the Lookers

Here's the video for the metros new single Last of the Lookers, I did backing vocals on it so listen out for me haha.

welcome welcome...

I don't really feel the need to write out any sort of "mission statement" on this blog, I'm just going to post tunes and write shit, you can check my (almost) daily photo blog to see some of my photography as well. nice nice...

Last night my good friend Ben Jones played me The Twelves remix of that Black Kids song with the longest title ever, which is up on lots of other blogs so go check it out.

Friday night is West Rocks at Shepards Bar, Shepards bush, The Suggestions are playing, so get down there. Here's a Suggestions mp3 to get you warmed up...

So MSTRKRFT are playing a Warehouse ting in London on Saturday night, it's a fairly bad secret that the "mystery location" is the Cable Street Warehouse. If however you can't get in/can't be bothered to try, take a short walk to The Rhythm Factory for another excellent Startstrippers night, this time featuring Underground Heroes live, and all the usual electro/techno/minimal DJ heaviness going on.

first post in the bag...
